During the sixteenth century, in the courts of Europe, the idea of collecting samples of all kinds of human artifacts resulted in the creation of “Wunderkammer” or “Chambers of Wonder”: collections of incredibly beautiful objects put together without any apparent order or logic as their only purpose was to amaze and impress the beholder.
